Guests have described the atmosphere as laidback and elegant – and who doesn’t want that? Are you curious about guests’ experiences? Sandals Royal Curacao, located within the expansive Santa Barbara estate across 44 lush beachfront acres, has received praise for its one-of-a-kind ambiance. Everything I just mentioned – the amazing suites, excellent service, and unique amenities, including Sandals’ first 2-level infinity pool and a natural salt-water ocean-fed pool, have left guests in awe.

The Curacao all-inclusive resort was said to have a beauty to it and a friendly touch, thanks to the incredibly helpful staff. The guests also highlighted the garden, and the simple way to find the beach loungers appealed to many. Again, the culinary experience is deemed unmatched because there are so many things to choose from, and the guests loved every single dish presented to them. However, some guests note the limited sandy seaside area as a point of concern, especially those who are fans of “typical” beaches. 

The rooms are said to offer comfort and a stunning view. I had to check this one myself, and everyone was right – all suites are truly amazing. Another thing the guests have mentioned in their reviews is the need for more shade around the pool area, but I guess it all comes down to personal preference, as some people liked it.

And for all of you who are nature and history lovers – you can enjoy the hikes at Shete Boka and Christoffel National Parks.

• Get scuba certified – with an amazing course you can purchase, you can complete a classroom portion at your own pace – anytime and anywhere. After that, you can go to the resort and complete the in-water part of the certification! Even though it is at an additional cost, there is no better place to get certified than in a resort!
• Book a Mini Cooper – if you want to explore the magnificent island of Curacao, there is no better way to do this than to get access to a complimentary Mini Cooper! You can reserve a one-time session through your Butler as soon as you arrive. In addition, you get it for 3 and a half hours, complete with water and soda, gas, a guided map, a picnic basket with snacks, and a fully functioning GPS to help you navigate.
• Red Lane Spa – Sandals Curacao also offers the Red Lane Spa, where you can relax and enjoy some of the wide range of signature treatments. It is located in the middle of a tropical garden. This spa promises a calm retreat for those seeking relaxation and wellness.

What to wear on your trip to this amazing destination?

Okay, so you need a foolproof packing list, and there are a lot of things you need to bring along. From the things that first come to mind, pack footwear, cover-ups, bathing suits, and clothing. Sandals Royal Curacao has a restaurant dress code, and it goes as follows:

• Casual resort clothes – anything from polo shirts, t-shirts, shorts, and jeans will do. Footwear and shirts are always required, and your bathing suit must always be covered.
• Evening resort clothes – for this category, men can wear jeans or dress pants with a shirt with either short or long sleeves, with or without a collar. Men can also wear sandals or dress shoes. No t-shirts, no sleeveless shirts, sneakers, flip flops, slippers, or t-shirts. Caps and hats are also not allowed.
• Medicine and toiletries – these can be limited and pretty expensive on-site, so pack everything you need at home. A painkiller, anti-allergy medicine, and anti-nausea medicine is the best way to go.
• Additional things to pack – don’t forget your reef-friendly sunscreen, after-sun cream, and insect repellent. Don’t forget to bring something against mosquitoes – those in the jungle always seem thirsty.

The one thing you don’t need to worry about is power adapters. They have the same chargers as in the USA, and there are hair dryers in every room, too, so you can skip those items from your packing list.

What about tipping?

When you book your Sandals experience, tips and gratuities are included, except for the rule about massage therapists and personal butlers. In other words, you are not allowed to tip the concierge staff, entertainment team, cleaners, bartenders, wait staff, and all the other employees at Sandals because your tip has already been calculated in your booking. However, if you stay in a butler-level room, tipping your butler is an allowed, even an encouraged thing.

What is not included?

Some things are not a part of your extravagant experience here. These things include gift shop items, phone calls, refresher courses or scuba certification, optional tours, spa treatments, gold caddies (mandatory for golfers), and medical assistance. For the last bit, even though there is a resident nurse with complimentary services, you will still be charged for any medication or a doctor’s consultation (if you need one).
