Sandals Resort Antigua was voted the “World’s Most Romantic Resort” year after year, adults-only hotel Sandals Grande Antigua is located on Antigua’s best and most famous beach, Dickenson Bay. The resort is alid out like a Caribbean Beachfront Village, with a charming seaside garden oasis.

Why is Sandals Grande Antiqua the Best?

Sandals Grande Antiqua is the best because it is located on one of the nicest white sand beaches in the Caribbean, Dickenson Bay.

There is no long curvy ride to this resort from the airport.  If you get carsick like me, this Sandals resort is just a quick 15 minute complementary ride from the airport.

Work and Play.  There is a state of the art convention center right here so you can work and play for a company event, wedding, or any other event you want to plan.

Why I love Sandals Grande Antigua

• Sandals resorts always are placed on the most beautiful beaches and Grande Antiqua is on one of the longest white-sand beach in Antigua – Dickenson Bay.
• I love that this resort is only Fifteen (15) minutes away from the V.C. Bird International Airport.  This means more time in the swim up pool bar.
• Sandals Grande Antigua is the home of the ‘Original’ Rondovals, which have been renovated to offer larger bathrooms with overhead rain showers. Those in the gardens have been magnificently enhanced with private pool sanctuaries.
• If you are planning a company event, meeting or convention in Antigua this is a perfect location,  There are Conference and Meeting facilities, featuring Admiral Lord Nelson’s Conference Center with 5000 sq. ft.
• Like all Sandals Resorts, the dining is all inclusive and exceptional.  There are no lack of dining options with 11 restaurants to pick from.
• Dickenson Bay is a beautiful beach with two unique charteristics.  If you are close to the Medierranean side the beach is quite and you can quickly enjoy the water with the narrow stip of white sand.  If you are looking for a more open larger beach front, just walk down to the Caribbean Village and grab a spot for the day.  Both locations has chairs and places to camp out without having to get up at 7 AM to claim your spot.
• I love the fire-pits around the resort but in the Caribbean I have never really felt the need to snuggle up on an 80+ degree day.
• For a destination wedding, honeymoon, or just a nice couples Caribbean vacation this resort has that romantic vibe you are looking for. The resort is tropical with lots of romantic spots, a beautiful beach, and high touch decor.

Why Might Sandals Grande Antigua Not Be Considered The Best

• Like all Caribbean Islands the beaches are public and you will see locals on the beach selling souvenirs and such.

Sandals Royal Barbados has some of the best accommodations no matter what you book and the grounds and amenities at this Sandals Resort are top notch.

You get two resort for the price of one in Barbados and the resort are so close that you can’t even tell when you are on one or the other.  Everything at both Sandals resorts is included for you.

Why I love Sandals Royal Barbados

The infinity pool at Sandals Royal Barbados stands out as a unique feature that sets it apart from other resorts. Being the first of its kind for Sandals, this captivating pool offers a zero-entry experience, creating a seamless blend between the water and its surrounding environment. The pool’s striking glass edges add a touch of sophistication and provide unobstructed views of the breathtaking surroundings. With a total of 31 pools within the resort, visitors can also enjoy a rooftop pool that offers an unparalleled vista, making it a truly exceptional experience.

Why Might Sandals Royal Barbados Not Be Considered the Best

• When I recently went and stayed at Sandals Royal Barbados I could tell the staff was new or understaffed.  Maybe it’s because Covid closed the island for a long time to tourism and getting staff is now difficult.
• Then resort is stunning but the staff as of May 2024 was new, or not trained, or missing altogether making dining and other experiences sometimes difficult or not enjoyable.
• This could have just been my individual experience or maybe some of the staff was having a bad day, so this does not mean I would avoid this resort all together.  I would like to hear your experience as the staff is trained.

We stayed in several different room categories at Sandals Royal Caribbean resort and we also toured every room category available.  The over the water bungalows were under construction and they look like the most romantic getaways I have ever seen in the Caribbean.  Imagine your own bungalow, with an infinity pool, watching the fish under your feet…

Why is Sandals Royal Caribbean the Best?

You can be on the beach at this resort minutes after arriving at the Montego Bay airport.  The Sandals Resort is just a 15 minute complementary drive away.

You also get to enjoy Sandals Montego Bay Resort by taking the complementary shuttle to the resort just 5 minutes away.  That gives you more dining options, pools, another beach, you get the idea.

There is a private island just off the shore at Sandals Royal Caribbean with a way cool Dragon Boat that will take you over whenever you want.

Why I love Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort

• I’m not going to lie.  The words “Over the Water Bungalows” without having to fly to Bora Bora sold me on this resort.  Also Sandals Royal Caribbean has a private island.  Yeah, there is this cute boat that takes you over to the private island for dining or just to relax on the beach.

• Stay at one and dine at two.  With Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals Montego Bay being about 10 minutes apart, you can jump on the free shuttle and enjoy both resorts.  This is like an extra bonus.  Two Sandals resorts for the price of one.

• When Butch created Sandals he always picked the resort location based on the beach first and this beach is quite, calm, clear blue water and literally I counted like 10 steps from my room.  Now we are not talking Jamaicas famous 7 mile beach, that’s Sandals Negril.  But you will really enjoy the beach at Sandals Royal Caribbean.

• Clothing optional, yeah this resort has that too.  There is a small beach on the backside of the private island that is clothing optional.

• Royal Caribbean is 15 minutes from the Montego Bay Jamaica airport and I have caught a flight in the morning and have been on the beach before lunchtime.  Looking for something even closer to the airport, look at Sandals Montego Bay.

• The private island also has hammocks and great places at the swim up pool bar to meet others and enjoy the day.

I fell in love with Sandals Royal Caribbean resort for so many reasons.  The swim up rooms where you walk out your patio to a zero entry pool, the fantastic dining options, of course the private island is spectacular with the parrots by the bar, the pool and beach and Thai restraunt.

Like all Sandals resorts this one is quaint and landscaped like a tropical paradise.  I had a great time wondering the paths around the resorts 15 acres and exploring the nooks by the beach.

You don’t have to break the bank to stay at Sandals Royal Caribbean.  We booked the
Windsor Beachfront Walkout Club Level Room with Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub – WBT. Take a look at the gallery for photos of our room.  It was perfect.  I like how Sandals resorts are smaller resorts that place you just steps away from the beach and pools.  Some other all inclusive resorts have a more high-rise feel where Sandals Royal Caribbean puts you “on the beach” in a small boutique resort with just 215 rooms and suites.

Sandals Royal Caribbean Insider Tips:

One advantage to this Sandals resort is it’s location.  Sandals Royal Caribbean is 10 minutes from the MBL airport.  So you can be on vacation, your wedding or honeymoon in Jamaica in just a matter of moments.

Sandals Royal Caribbean has a romantic feel while also providing so many activities and amenities that you will never run out of things to do.  We really enjoyed the nighttime entertainment by the main pool and also just lounging by the beach around a campfire.  There are tucked away pools is you want to escape that we went to several times and also the main pool with the swim up bar and a hub of excitement and activities.

AWARD – Quick Get-A-Way Jamaica

This is one of my favorite all inclusive Caribbean resorts for a quick get away.  Flying to Jamaica from the United States for a three day weekend lets me get on the beach in within moments.  Sandals Montego Bay is located very close to the MBJ airport so you are not wasting your limited vacation time on transfers or sitting in the airport.  This resort is just 5 minutes from the airport.

Sandals Montego Bay is an upbeat all inclusive resort on Jamaica’s largest private beach.  I love this resort because it’s so close to the airport.  Sandal’s Montego Bay is just five minutes form the airport so it’s perfect for a long weekend getaway in Jamaica.  Your travel time is so reduced that you also get to enjoy every last minute in paradise, and also all inclusive cocktails, before catching your flight back to reality.

Also I love the Sandals Montego Bay resorts because you can Stay at one and Play at all three resorts.  Just take the free Sandals shuttle to and from the Montego Bay area Sandals resorts to access the 20 gourmet restaurants that are all within 10 minutes.  Also the majority of the rooms, suites, and restaurant at Sandals Montego Bay sit on the shore-line.

There is no long drive after traveling to Jamaica.  Sandals Montego Bay gets you in the vacation mood and on the beach just minutes after you arrive in Jamaica.

This resort was the first Sandals Resort Sandals built and a Sandals Fan Favorite.  I’ve met so many Sandals long time Sandals fans at Sandals Montego Bay.

If you have been to Sandals Montego Bay when it first opened, it has been completely remodeled and like a brand new resort.

What I love about Sandals Montego Bay

• This was Butches First Sandals resort he built and the staff and location convenience to Montego Bay is un matched.  The resort recently underwent a full refurbishment and WOW it looks amazing.  You will find me at the lobby bar when you arrive.

• The people of Jamaica are the friendliest you will find in the Caribbean.  “No Worries Mon” is the mantra and my favorite saying at all the Sandals Jamaica resorts

• You can stay at one and play and dine at two.  Just hop on the free shuttle to the other Sandals resorts just minutes away and enjoy both resorts.

• The covered stage area is nice for evening after dinner entertainment and local acts.

• Just like all Sandals Resorts the landscaping is a Caribbean tropical paradise with so many photo spots and places to get away.
• Latitudes, an over the water bar is my favorite hang out and it will be your favorite spot too.  This bar is a circle, hut like building in the middle of the ocean with hammocks all the way around the edges over the water.  Be warned if you get into one of the hammocks, it’s not as easy to get out.

Why Might Sandals Montego Bay Not Be Considered The Best

• One advantage and also challenge is how close Sandals Montego Bay is to the airport.  I literally could watch the flights take off on the runaway from one of my rooms one time.  So it can be noisy and the first firsts start around 6 AM.  I did talk to lots of guests and not a single one cared about the airport noise.  I also got use to it, but you need to be aware of this.
• The pools at Montego Bay are smaller than most Sandals resorts if that is going to be your main vacation spot.

This Sandals Resort is closer to the water’s edge than anywhere else in Negril, life can truly be what you imagine in the relaxed chic, and free-spirited Sandals Negril.

The hotel has an ambience that melds relaxed tropical luxury with barefoot elegance in Jamaica, it closely hugs its coveted seaside location on famed Seven Mile Beach, creating Negril’s ultimate beachfront all-inclusive resort. Here in this laid-back hideaway there are no schedules to follow and no clocks to obey.

You are going to really enjoy this beach.  Jamaica’s famous 7 mile beach is just steps away from your room.

Just relaxing at Latitudes, the over the water bar during sunset is one of my favorite ways to end each night of my vacation.

• Located on Negril’s famous Seven Mile Beach on the North West Coast of Jamaica. Approximately 1 Hour and 15 minutes from the Sangster International Airport, Montego Bay.  Remember transfer are included to and from the airport.

• Sandals Negril has 226 Rooms and Suites, on 12 Acres that spreads out along the famous Jamaica 7 mile beach.

• Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa is set amongst lush palm groves, powdery white sand beach and the calm aquamarine Caribbean Sea, a must for Scuba and Snorkel enthusiasts. Negril offers some of the best sunsets in the Caribbean, as well as a myriad of watersports to choose from.

• One of my favorite suites is the Millionaire Honeymoon 1 Bedroom. Butler Suite with a Private Pool Sanctuary.

• When it comes to finding the best beach in Jamaica, Sandals Negril on the Seven Mile Beach is regarded as a top choice for good reason. This particular resort offers a more intimate atmosphere compared to Sandals South Coast, but both of these resorts are renowned for their relaxed and laid-back vibes. If you’re searching for the Sandals resort with the most stunning beach in Jamaica, Sandals Negril with its Seven Mile Beach I highly recommend.

Why Might Sandals Negril Not Be Considered the Best

Any Sandals Resort that is a ways away from the airport means you get a free tour of the island but it also means leaving earlier to get back to the airport 3 hours before your flight time.  So if you have an early flight you might be on a super early van ride to the airport.  Just keep this in mind when booking your return flights home.

The famous 7 mile beach is a public beach and with 7 miles of resorts and locals too this means you will have people walking up to you to sell you souvenirs.  You just have to say no thanks.  If you do want to purchase something it can be difficult since you are at an all inclusive resort and I rarely have any cash on me.

I have a favorite Jamaica Sandals Resort and Sandals South Coast is it.
Sandals South Coast has a larger or modern and updated resort feel.  Large pools, an amazing beach with nobody else around.  I mean a 2 mile beach that literally has a handful of people on it.  If you are looking for Over-the-Water Butler Bungalows Sandals South Coast has those too. There is an Over-the-Water bar too and an Over-the-Water Serenity Wedding Chapel perfect for your wedding day. Sandals also newly reimagined the beachfront Dutch Village and added swim-up suites that wrap the entire village.  These are stunning.

Sandals Ochi Beach Resort

AWARD – Honeymoon Couples Sandals Best Value Resort

Sandals Ochi [Sandals Ochi Beach Resort] it is two resorts in one. One side of the resort is like a  beachside Caribbean Riviera with a hot beach club. On the more serene side, true romance spans over a 100-acre Garden of Eden full of private escapes and the elite Butler Village. This resort was designed to bring you closer to the water’s edge than any other all-inclusive resort in Ocho Rios. There are a total of 11 unique bars – including the Caribbean’s first speakeasy which is my personal favorite hangout – 16 trend-worthy eateries, and challenging greens at the nearby Upton Estate Golf & Country Club.

Why is Sandals Ochi Beach resort the Best?

This popular Sandals resort is a perfect fit for a newlywed couple or someone looking to try an all inclusive Caribbean resort on a budget.  Some of the most affordable Sandals resort rooms are at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort.  This is because the resort is a good hour and a half drive from the Montego Bay airport and also because the resort has a unique layout that some might find challenging.  Half of the resort in in teh mountains and half of the Sandals resort is on the beach.  There is a frequent shuttle that takes you down the mountain and across the street to the beach side resort, but it not walkable from one half to the other.  But I do really enjoy this resort and again if you are looking for a “cheap Sandals Resort” this is it.

The speakeasy is really something cool at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort.  I have been here several times and love the 1920’s style decor, drinks and the Big Mama entertainer is fantastic.

Sandals Emerald Bay

If you want to get away from it all this little know resort is perfect for you.  The resort is Tucked within the exotic Exumas, in the Out Islands of The Bahamas, This is not Nassau with crowds, cruise ships and traffic.  You might see one other car your entire stay on this island.  If you want to escape from it all and go to a very high end luxury resort to relax and recharge.  Emerald bay is your spot.

Within this 500 tropical acre and mile-long beachfront resort in Exuma, each island-style hotel room is designed to make you feel completely alone together. The secluded villas and sensuous suites blend seamlessly with the landscaped gardens, while offering distinctly modern innovations, amenities and either Club Sandals or Butler Elite service. There are three pools including a half-acre, zero-entry pool centered around a warmly glowing fire-pit and a signature swim-up bar.

There are no lack of dining options as you can choose from 11 globally inspired restaurants as well as 6 hotel bars including a genuine British pub. Play a round on the golf legend, Greg Norman-designed golf course or visit the award-winning Red Lane Spa.

Of course the Bahamas that is renowned for its powdery white sand beaches and turquoise waters at Sandals Emerald Bay. Why is Sandals Emerald Bay the Best?

If you are looking for a laid back, relaxing tropical island vacation close to the USA (40 min flight or less from Miami) Sandals Emerald Bay ranks at the top of my Best Sandals List.

This resort was a four seasons resort before Sandals purchased it and there is an amazing cliff side golf course, the resort grounds themselves are beautiful and the beach area is a crescent shaped white powered sand delight.

I had dinner with the general manager during my last stay at Sandals Emerald Bay and raved to him about some of the fantastic staff members I had met on my trip.

Why I love Sandals Emerald Bay

This resort is located in the Bahamas which for US travelers makes it a very close get away option.  But the resort is not like Freeport or Nassau if you have been to the Bahamas before on a cruise.  This is a luxury, secluded resort in the Exuma.  The island is so secluded that you might see one other car during your stay.

Why Might Sandals Emerald Bay Not be Considered the Best

If you are not a fan of a quite, relaxing, slow paced vacation than this is not the resort for you.  If you want nightlife, shopping, island excursions (except for a few like swimming with the pigs which is AWESOME, snorkeling, and typical Caribbean activities) Exuma is a slow paced small island.

The airport is about the size of a two car garage and the island is very small.  Grab a book and a hammock and you are set.

One of Sandals newest resorts to open is Sandals Curacao.  I love Curacao and I am so happy Sandals has finally opened an all inclusive resort over by the ABC islands.  This Dutch island is beautiful.  It’s not tropical but has more of a dessert landscape with some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the world.  My kids saw their first flamingos in the wild in Curacao and my little one learned to snorkel here and now it’s her favorite activity.

Again this is the newest and most modern Sandals resort is Sandals Royal Curaçao. This recently opened resort is still in the process of collecting its initial reviews. Guests particularly enjoy the presence of a double infinity pool and the hospitality of the friendly staff. It is worth mentioning that Sandals Royal Curaçao is considered one of the top options within the Sandals Resorts collection for scuba diving and snorkeling activities. Additionally, this resort is conveniently located near Willemstad, Curaçao.

I love this island, the people, the architecture, the cute shops and amazing photo spots.  I went biking one time with my family all over the island and saw flamingos.  We saw a sea turtle snorkeling here one time.  This island is beautiful.  Now Curacao is not tropical it’s more dry and aired so just be aware that it’s not a rain forest like other Caribbean islands.

The Sandals Resort here is very popular and ranks very high on my list.  This resort is one of Sandals newer resorts and to be frank when they opened they had their share of issues.  The amazing pool plexiglass wall broke away, there were many guest complaints about the new staff not being up to par early on too.  So you will see those reviews out there from the early days.  Sandals has addressed all those issues and now Sandals Curacao is one of the nicest Sandals resorts in the hotels portfolio.

When Sandals Curacao first opened it has some growing pains.  The staff was of course new, the pool had an issue that caused the cool glass front to detach and that closed the main pool for a while to be fixed.

These opening day issues have been fixed and Sandals Curacao is not ranked as a top Sandals resort.  But again you might see older reviews from when the resort first opened and was not dialed in.

Why Might Sandals Barbados Not Be Considered the Best

• This resort is stunning, but on my last trip to Sandals Barbados it was obvious that a large percentage of the staff was new.  I’m all for training new people but some of the staff was either really new or not trained well.  For a top dollar vacation this can be frustrating at times when the staff is very slow, gives incorrect information, or just is missing all together and you can’t get service.   Now this was in May of 2024.  Hopefully this has been resolved or it might have just been an off day or the people I ran into were having a bad day.

I am recently back from Sandals newest resort (opened in mid 2024) and It’s spectacular.

If you are into fitness the entry level room categories come with a a fitness room or if you are not into fitness you can get an entertainment room which is like a movie room set up.  But the over the water villas are what is amazing at this resort for a special occasion vacation.

Why I love Sandals Saint Vincent

I am sure there is going to be so much to love at this new Sandals resort in 2024.  Just the list of room categories looks amazing and new concept dining too.

Why Might Sandals Saint Vincent Not Be Considered the Best

This resort has so much to offer but if you get car sick easy the 50 minute or so bus ride from the airport is very curvy.  If you book a Butler level room the ride is much shorter and they take you to a boat launch and you will arrive by boat to the resort.

I would bring motion sickness medicine if you are anything like me just to be safe.

Why I love Sandals Royal Plantation

This Sandals resort is located in Ocho Rios which is that part of Jamaica that has all of your fun outdoor activities like swimming with dolphins, climbing Dunn’s river falls and hiking or zip lining in the tropical forest.  But even being in the heart of all that Ocho Rios has to offer, Sandals Royal Plantation is a boutique resort with just 74 suites on the 10 acre property.  All the suites have ocean views and you are situated on a cliff over looking the cove beaches below and amazing emerald green and blue Caribbean waters.  We stayed at Sandals Royal Plantation when it was sold out.  The resort has so many dining options and hidden nooks on the two beaches that we never saw more than three of four couples the entire stay.

Sandals Royal Plantation also has a private 3 bedroom villa that is tucked away in a lush garden on the secluded east beach.  We toured this amazing villa that was also on the season finally of ABC’s the Bachelor.  This Sandals villa also comes with butler service and also a chef.  It has a private pool and beach access.  There is a hidden path just steps away from Sandals Royal Plantation where you can dine, and relax also.  If you are interested in the Villa I have loads of photos I can share with you.  It’s an amazing place for a honeymoon, wedding, or gathering with friends.

Another advantage to Sandals Royal Plantation is that it has full exchange privileges with Sandals Ochi Beach Resort which is next door.  Guests staying at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort do NOT have exchange privileges to Sandals Royal Plantation.  We waded over to Sandals Ochi next door several times and also took the free shuttle.  Sandals Ochi Beach Resort is the Sandals resort you probably have seen in TV commercials and brochures.  It has an amazing swim up bar, and large beach party area for daytime activities and nighttime events, and loads of restaurants. With Sandals Ochi next door you can hang out at the swim up bar during the day if you like more activities, and head back to your resort when you want to relax.  You have the best of both worlds.

• Small boutique feel bed and breakfast like resort with just 74 rooms
• All rooms come with Butler service and 24 hour room service
• Fantastic staff – Our butlers went above and beyond and other guests we met come every year and get the same butler.
• Take “The Hop” free shuttle next door to Sandals Ochi for a more party vibe, more dining options, The best speak easy in the Caribbean and so much more.  Then shuttle back to Sandals Royal Plantation for a quiet relaxing night.  FYI: Sandals Ochi guest can not dining and play at Sandals Royal Plantation but you can enjoy Sandals Ochi Resort.
• Sandals Royal Plantation is a beautiful resort with rock cliffs and stairs the lead down to two small beaches.  Have your butler fill up a cooler with your favorite drinks and get some lounge chairs and enjoy the day.
• The Tea Terrace offers afternoon tea everyday.
• This resort usually prices on the lower end of Sandals Resort pricing which makes it a good fit for an entry level Sandals stay.  Sandals Ochi, next door also has some good prices in the off season too.

Why Might Sandals Royal Plantation Not Be Considered the Best

• Sandals Royal Plantation is not handicapped friendly.  There are lots of rock steps to the beach areas.  We did meet a guest in a wheel chair that comes often and the staff carries him down to the beach area.  It’s up to you but I feel that many other Sandals resorts are more handicapped friendly.
• This resort is decorated in the old traditional Bahamian style of decor.  Dark woods, green marble countertops, gold fixtures.  This gives the resort a more dated feel vs many of the other Sandals resorts that have redone their rooms to a more modern, clean, contemporary Caribbean feel.

Sandals Royal Plantation Insider Tip:

Get to know your butlers.  Having butlers gets a little getting use to, so be sure to bring your room phone with you to the beach, to Sandals Ochi, etc.  If you left your book in your book and you are on the beach at Royal Plantation just give them a call.  If you would like your cooler filled with beer by your beach chairs, or dinner reservations, etc. your butler can take care of everything for you.

We would spend time at Sandals Ochi at the swim up bar and take “The Hop” free shuttle to the mountain side part of the Ochi resort for some amazing Jerk Shack pork and Chicken for lunch.  Then later in the day we would head back to Sandals Royal Plantation for a quite relaxing evening.  If you still want night life, just head to Sandals Ochi for the Beach Party.
