Sandals Resorts – Wheelchair accessible all-inclusive Caribbean resorts
There are several wheelchair accessible all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and I am partial to Sandals Resorts because their consistency across their 18 different all inclusive resorts is the best in the business.
I put together a list of the top Sandals All Inclusive Resorts that are handicapped accessible as a starting guide to help everyone find that prefect all inclusive resort.

JAMAICA – There are several handicapped accessible resorts on Jamaica
- Sandals Montego Bay – Sandals First Resort, Minutes away from Montego Bay Airport and has wheelchair accessible rooms
- Sandals Royal Caribbean – 15 Minutes from Montego Bay & Free shuttle service to Sandals Montego Bay. Bungalows. Easy Beach Access for guests with mobility issues. Private Island require access via boat.
- Sandals Negril – On Jamaica’s famous 7 mile beach. Another Wheelchair friendly resort.
- Sandals Royal Plantation – An exclusive all Butler resort. Not recommended due to rocky cliffs and lots of stairs.
- Sandals South Coast – A great option with beach access and other wheechair friendly options
- Sandals Ochi – Not a good choice for guests with physical limitations.
- Sandals Dunn’s River – This newer Sandals Resort does have Wheelchair access
- Sandals Regency La Toc – Say at one play at all 3 St Lucia Resorts
- Sandals Grande St. Lucian – Say at one play at all 3 St Lucia Resorts
- Sandals Halcyon Beach – Say at one play at all 3 St Lucia Resorts
- Sandals Grande Antigua – Located at St. Johns, Antigua

Number of Handicapped Accessible Rooms Available
There are four (4) rooms at Sandals Montego Bay Resort; These rooms are located two (2) on the Palms Building on the 2nd floor (keep in mind that there is an elevator now at Sandals Montego Bay).
One handicapped accessible room is a Club Level GBT- (Beachfront Grande
Luxe Club Level Junior Suitew/tranquility soaking tub) while the other handicapped accessible room is a Butler OBT-(Beachfront One-Bedroom butler suite w/tranquility soaking tub).
The other two (2) handicapped rooms are in the Seagrapes building on the 2nd floor: One is a Luxury Level OLX – (Crystal Lagoon Honeymoon Oceanview Luxury room w balcony
tranquility soaking tub) while the other is Butler OL1B –(Crystal Lagoon Honeymoon
Oceanview one bedroomButler suite w/balcony tranquility soaking tub)
Handicapped Bathroom Facilities
Both rooms are tailored to provide complete comfort for guests with a wheelchair. These all inclusive rooms feature a lower bed, a lower bathroom counter and mirror, roll in shower with hand held portable shower head. Also benches can be provided on request.
FYI – The public restrooms in the lobby have been tailored to accommodate persons who are physically challenged.

Wheelchairs available at Sandals Resort
There is 1 Beach wheelchair and 5 regular wheelchairs at Sandals Montego Bay.
Crutches are not available.
Insider Tip: Some Sandals Resort are perched on a rocky cliff making beach access difficult. Not Sandals Montego Bay. The Beach at Sandals Montego Bay is easily accessible to any guest in wheelchairs, or with any other physical limitation.

Sandals Royal Caribbean
Number of Handicapped Accessible Rooms Available
There are 2 rooms at Sandals Royal Caribbean that are handicapped accessible. These are rooms that have a wheelchair level peephole and lowered night latches also.
Bathroom Facilities
The doors are wide enough for wheelchairs and shower benches, grab rails, extended
shower head, and raised toilet seats are in both rooms. Additionally, the rooms have lowered faucets/sinks and roll-in showers for wheelchairs.
Bath bench and handheld shower can be provided.

Insider Tips: Sandals Royal Caribbean is very “physically-challenged” friendly. It has minimal amounts of elevation changes, enabling wheelchairs and scooters to have access to all areas on the resort (including the beach) via walkways and ramps where necessary. Access to the Private Offshore Island & Over-the-Water-Villa and Bungalows is difficult for the physically challenged as this involves getting in/out of boats.
Sandals Ochi Beach Resort
Number of Handicapped Accessible Rooms Available
None of our main room doors are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs. However,
ramps can be built to allow access to some Villa category rooms through double patio
doors.
Bathroom Facilities
A bath bench and handheld shower can be provided.
Restaurants Accessible by wheelchairs
This is a very challenging Sandals resort for guests in wheelchairs. There are only two easily accessible restaurants, Vista Gourmet/Sky Terrace and the Reef Terrace.
Wheelchair(s) Available
The resort has 5 wheel chairs overall. 1 wheelchair at the Riviera nurse’s station; 1-wheel chair at the Great House nurse’s station; 1 wheelchair at the Rivera lobby; 1 wheelchair at the Great House lobby. 1 beach wheelchair at the Ochi Beach Club Dive shop. 2 pairs of standard size crutches are available upon request.

There are 2 regular wheelchairs, 1 beach wheelchair, and 2 sets of crutches available upon request.
Insider Tip: I highly recommend AGAINST this resort for those that are in a wheelchair or have any mobility challenges. The resort not conducive to the wheelchair bound as there are steep steps leading to the beach, the pool, and the French Restaurant.
Beaches Ocho Rios
Number of Handicapped Accessible Rooms Available
There are 2 Premium category (PD) rooms. The bedroom access doors are wide enough to accommodate a regular wheelchair.
Bathroom Facilities
The bathrooms have a bench, hand rails, adjusted faucets, and raised toilet seats. The room does not have a standing shower to accommodate wheelchairs however a shower stool is provided for the bathtub. The bathroom door is wide enough to accommodate a regular wheelchair.

The resort has 1 beach wheelchair. Regular wheelchair are available for short-term use. There is 1 pair of crutches available. Motorized scooters are also available for rent at a cost of US$100.00 per day with a deposit of US$600.00 (which is returned once there are no damages), There is a US$70.00 delivery and pick fee.
Insider Tip: The beach is accessible to the physically challenged. If you are not aware, this is a Beaches Resort. Beaches Resorts are all inclusive Family resorts. Sandals Resorts are Couples Only All Inclusive Resorts (No Kids)
Sandals South Coast (White House)
Number of Handicapped Accessible Rooms Available
Two (2) IWJS rooms on the 1st floor, Two (2) IGB rooms on the 2nd & 3rd floors of the Italian Beachfront Village, (1) DB1 on the 3rd floor, (1) SUP on the 1st floor, (1) DJS on
the 4th floor (1) DGB on the 3rd on the 3rd floor of the Dutch Village. However, entry room doors are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs as well as doorway to bathroom.
Bathroom Facilities
Upon request, shower bench and an extended shower head are available. The bathrooms in the physically challenged rooms have grab bars next to toilet and in bathtub. Also the vanity area is lowered.

There are 9 Regular wheelchairs and 1 beach wheelchair that are available for guests’ to use. There are 2 pairs of crutches available.

Sandals Negril
Number of Handicapped Accessible Rooms Available
Six (6) rooms:
4 WB rooms – 1st floor, beachside of the Paradise Beachfront Village (built-in ramps at front door; none at slide door facing beach – additional ramp can be provided upon request)
1 LX – 1st floor, garden side of Coconut Cove (Caribbean Beachfront Village) – entrance
not raised
1 WGBT – 1st floor, beach side of Bamboo Grove (built in ramp at pathway to door) – door entrance 2 inches high
All have doors wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs.
Bathroom Facilities
Wheelchairs can enter the shower stalls; there is a grab bars next to toilet and in shower stalls; has lowered sinks. Upon request, benches and raised toilet seats can be provided.
Restaurants Accessible by wheelchairs
All restaurants can accommodate a person with a physical challenge.
Barefoot by the Sea (restaurant in the sand) – no beach wheelchair is necessary; regular wheelchairs can be used to dine at a table along the sides)

One (1) 1 Beach Wheelchair and five (5) regular wheelchairs are available upon
request. Guests normally rent Motorized Scooters on their own or travel with them. No
crutches available.
Insider Tips: Almost all of the resort grounds are wheelchair accessible, with most of the
land being flat. Three of the buildings have elevators: The Crystal Lagoon Village – giving
access to all Swim-Up Suites (1R) and Penthouses (P1); The Coconut Cove and Bamboo Grove (garden side) – provides access to 32 of the 36 LX rooms and 4 of the 16 1B
(2 story loft suites). The Millionaire Suites (RJ) have limited wheelchair access – no ramps but no steps at entrance; portable ramp can be requested. No access to Penthouse
Millionaire Suites as they are only accessible by a flight of stairs. A few rooms on beach side of Coconut Cove and Bamboo Grove have limited access (no steps at entrance). These oceanview club level rooms and butler suites are entered via 3-4 steps (WGBT) or a flight of stairs (GBT & 1B). The HB rooms on the Paradise Building are also only accessible by stairs. Half of our HS rooms are on ground floor (no ramp but low step at
entrance) while half are on the second floor with only stairs to access them. The beach is accessible to the physically challenged.
