There are so many Sandals Resorts that it can be difficult to pick just one as the best Sandals Resort.  We have been to all the different Sandals Resorts and have put together a list of each resort, pros and cons, budget saving tips, and more for your vacation.

If you have never been to a Sandals Resort, let me take a moment to explain why Sandals Resorts are my favorite all inclusive resort in the Caribbean.  I personally knew the founder of Sandals, Gordon “Butch” Stewart as I have been involved with Sandals and Beaches Resorts for over 15 years now.  I have a group of Pixie Travel agents that also know the brand and travel to all the Sandals Resorts to keep up with changes and new additions.

I am recently back from Sandals newest resort (opened in mid 2024) and It’s spectacular.
The top 3 Sandals Resorts are really close in scores for 2025 but Sandals St. Vincent takes the WIN.

If you are into fitness the entry level room categories come with a a fitness room or if you are not into fitness you can get an entertainment room which is like a movie room set up.  But the over the water villas are what is amazing at this resort for a special occasion vacation.

Why I love Sandals Saint Vincent

This new Sandals 2.0 Concept Resort is on a little know island names St. Vincent.  I had no idea where this even was and that’s part of the beauty of Saint Vincent.  This little know island is natural and untouched, this is the orginal tropical non commercial Caribbean experience.  This island only gets guests from the yachting and boating community.  St Vincent is the rich and famous Caribbean Playground.  Now with Sandals opening Sandals Saint Vincent there are flights to this island and now you too can experience St Vincent.

Sandals St Vincent Insiders Tips

Most people including travel agents don’t even know that if you booka butler level room at Sandals St. Vincent you can get a boat tranfer to the resort.  This can be quicker and also you avoid the curve mountain road to the resort from the airport.

If you are a honeymoon couple I would avoid the villas over the water here on Saint Vincent.  The over the water villas are stunning at Sandals St. Vincent but they are too close together on the beach for a honeymoon couple.  I have other room and suite ideas that are much better and that will save you some money too.

Why Might Sandals Saint Vincent Not Be Considered the Best

This resort has so much to offer but if you get car sick easy the 50 minute or so bus ride from the airport is very curvy.  If you book a Butler level room the ride is much shorter and they take you to a boat launch and you will arrive by boat to the resort.

I would bring motion sickness medicine if you are anything like me just to be safe.

#2 Best Sandals Resort for 2025

I really enjoyed Sandals Curacao.  I have to tell you when this resort first opened it did have some growing pains and the online reviews showed that.  So I was a tad worried.  WOW did they exceed expectations.  The best service I have had at any Sandals Resort.  Whoever is training the staff at Sandals Curacao they are doing an amazing job.  I look at every detail when I go to Sandals and Beaches Resorts and every time the staff went above and beyond.  Even the guy gardening at 6 AM went and stopped what he was doing and got me a bottle of water when everything was still closed that early in the morning.

This is one of Sandals newest resorts to open is Sandals Curacao.  I love Curacao and I am so happy Sandals has finally opened an all inclusive resort over by the ABC islands.  This Dutch island is beautiful.  It’s not tropical but has more of a dessert landscape with some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the world.  My kids saw their first flamingos in the wild in Curacao and my little one learned to snorkel here and now it’s her favorite activity.

Again, this is the newest and most modern Sandals resort is Sandals Royal Curaçao. This recently opened resort is still in the process of collecting its initial reviews. Guests particularly enjoy the presence of a double infinity pool and the hospitality of the friendly staff. It is worth mentioning that Sandals Royal Curaçao is considered one of the top options within the Sandals Resorts collection for scuba diving and snorkeling activities. Additionally, this resort is conveniently located near Willemstad, Curaçao.

I love this island, the people, the architecture, the cute shops and amazing photo spots.  I went biking one time with my family all over the island and saw flamingos.  We saw a sea turtle snorkeling here one time.  This island is beautiful.  Now Curacao is not tropical it’s more dry and aired so just be aware that it’s not a rain forest like other Caribbean islands.

The Sandals Resort here is very popular and ranks very high on my list.  This resort is one of Sandals newer resorts and to be frank when they opened they had their share of issues.  The amazing pool plexiglass wall broke away, there were many guest complaints about the new staff not being up to par early on too.  So you will see those reviews out there from the early days.  Sandals has addressed all those issues and now Sandals Curacao is one of the nicest Sandals resorts in the hotels portfolio.

Curacao boasts 351 well-appointed exquisite rooms and suites stretched along the Spanish Water Bay and Caribbean Sea. As one of the newer resorts, it offers a choice of eleven dining options, with eight being exclusive to Sandals Royal Curacao. Sandals Curacao Insider Tips

The pool is the main attraction at this resort and boy is it stunning. The main pool has two infinity edges and a nice swim-up bar too. If you want a set of pool chairs, I would go out about 7 AM and place an old book on a few chairs to claim them. I was out at 7 AM and there were still lots of great spots available by the pool.

While Sandals Royal Curaçao has a beach, this is not a true beach resort as the proximity of the hotel faces mostly towards a channel leading out into the ocean. If expansive ocean views are a must, consider other options. However, the convenience of learning to scuba dive here can’t be understated. The beach and dive training area are just steps away from the dive shop, and your first dive is conveniently right there for your Discover Scuba Dive.

Transfer times from the airport to the resort are about 20 minutes, making your arrival and departure hassle-free. Plus, flying to Curaçao is relatively easy with direct flights from New York, Charlotte, and Miami, so you can start your vacation with minimal travel fatigue.

Dive boat schedules can fill up quickly, so we recommend signing up for your dives upon checking in. This ensures you won’t miss out on any underwater adventures.

All the rooms at this resort are perfect. I toured them all, and everything at Sandals Curacao is top of the line.

Why Might Sandals Curacao Not Be Considered the Best

When Sandals Curacao first opened it has some growing pains.  The staff was of course new, the pool had an issue that caused the cool glass front to detach and that closed the main pool for a while to be fixed.

These opening day issues have been fixed and Sandals Curacao is not ranked as a top Sandals resort.  But again you might see older reviews from when the resort first opened and was not dialed in.

Why is Sandals Dunn’s River the Best?

This resort is located in the most popular tourist area in Jamaica. You are in the heart of the adventure, hiking, and all outdoor excursions. This makes this resort’s location very popular versus other Sandals resorts that can be all by themselves with very few other activities outside the resort itself.

Why is Sandals Grande Antiqua the Best?

Sandals Grande Antiqua is the best because it is located on one of the nicest white sand beaches in the Caribbean, Dickenson Bay.

There is no long curvy ride to this resort from the airport.  If you get carsick like me, this Sandals resort is just a quick 15 minute complementary ride from the airport.

Work and Play.  There is a state of the art convention center right here so you can work and play for a company event, wedding, or any other event you want to plan.

Why I love Sandals Grande Antigua

If you are looking for a fantastic Sunset cruise this is the resort to book that extra excursion.  Also Snorkeling is not to be missed at Sandals Grande Antiqua as it is some of the best snorkeling around.  This resort covers over 27 acres.  There are not a lot of rooms, just a large tropical resort.  So I like to walk a new Sandals resort when I first arrive and get an idea of the layout.  I also have maps of all the Sandals Resorts you can look at on your mobile device or print out.

If you want a prime location at the beach or at the resort pools, you need to get up early and place your used old book on some chairs at like 6-7 AM.  This resort is two resorts in one with Sandals Barbados steps away.  The two sandals resorts are literally six feet apart and you will find yourself wondering all day between both of them effortlessly.

• When I recently went and stayed at Sandals Royal Barbados I could tell the staff was new or understaffed.  Maybe it’s because Covid closed the island for a long time to tourism and getting staff is now difficult.
• Then resort is stunning but the staff as of May 2024 was new, or not trained, or missing altogether making dining and other experiences sometimes difficult or not enjoyable.
• This could have just been my individual experience or maybe some of the staff was having a bad day, so this does not mean I would avoid this resort all together.  I would like to hear your experience as the staff is trained.

The two Sandals resorts on Barbados are Sandals Barbados and Sandals Royal Barbados. These resorts are next to each other, and when you are on the property, it’s pretty difficult to even tell when you are at one resort or the other. If you want to save some money, I would book at Sandals Barbados. This side is also quieter, and the UK clients prefer this side because the pools are more private and quiet. You can still enjoy Sandals Royal Barbados and the main pool, the skytop pool too.

• Travel Time: Conveniently, it’s just a short 10-15 minute journey to reach the resort, making it a breeze to get started on your vacation.

• This resort is stunning, but on my last trip to Sandals Barbados it was obvious that a large percentage of the staff was new.  I’m all for training new people but some of the staff was either really new or not trained well.  For a top dollar vacation this can be frustrating at times when the staff is very slow, gives incorrect information, or just is missing all together and you can’t get service.   Now this was in May of 2024.  Hopefully this has been resolved or it might have just been an off day or the people I ran into were having a bad day.

You can be on the beach at this resort minutes after arriving at the Montego Bay airport.  The Sandals Resort is just a 15 minute complementary drive away.

You also get to enjoy Sandals Montego Bay Resort by taking the complementary shuttle to the resort just 5 minutes away.  That gives you more dining options, pools, another beach, you get the idea.

There is a private island just off the shore at Sandals Royal Caribbean with a way cool Dragon Boat that will take you over whenever you want.

Why I love Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort

• I’m not going to lie.  The words “Over the Water Bungalows” without having to fly to Bora Bora sold me on this resort.  Also Sandals Royal Caribbean has a private island.  Yeah, there is this cute boat that takes you over to the private island for dining or just to relax on the beach.

• Stay at one and dine at two.  With Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals Montego Bay being about 10 minutes apart, you can jump on the free shuttle and enjoy both resorts.  This is like an extra bonus.  Two Sandals resorts for the price of one.

• When Butch created Sandals he always picked the resort location based on the beach first and this beach is quite, calm, clear blue water and literally I counted like 10 steps from my room.  Now we are not talking Jamaicas famous 7 mile beach, that’s Sandals Negril.  But you will really enjoy the beach at Sandals Royal Caribbean.

• Clothing optional, yeah this resort has that too.  There is a small beach on the backside of the private island that is clothing optional.

• Royal Caribbean is 15 minutes from the Montego Bay Jamaica airport and I have caught a flight in the morning and have been on the beach before lunchtime.  Looking for something even closer to the airport, look at Sandals Montego Bay.

• The private island also has hammocks and great places at the swim up pool bar to meet others and enjoy the day.

I fell in love with Sandals Royal Caribbean resort for so many reasons.  The swim up rooms where you walk out your patio to a zero entry pool, the fantastic dining options, of course the private island is spectacular with the parrots by the bar, the pool and beach and Thai restraunt.

Like all Sandals resorts this one is quaint and landscaped like a tropical paradise.  I had a great time wondering the paths around the resorts 15 acres and exploring the nooks by the beach.

You don’t have to break the bank to stay at Sandals Royal Caribbean.  We booked the
Windsor Beachfront Walkout Club Level Room with Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub – WBT. Take a look at the gallery for photos of our room.  It was perfect.  I like how Sandals resorts are smaller resorts that place you just steps away from the beach and pools.  Some other all inclusive resorts have a more high-rise feel where Sandals Royal Caribbean puts you “on the beach” in a small boutique resort with just 215 rooms and suites.

One advantage to this Sandals resort is it’s location.  Sandals Royal Caribbean is 10 minutes from the MBL airport.  So you can be on vacation, your wedding or honeymoon in Jamaica in just a matter of moments.

Sandals Royal Caribbean has a romantic feel while also providing so many activities and amenities that you will never run out of things to do.  We really enjoyed the nighttime entertainment by the main pool and also just lounging by the beach around a campfire.  There are tucked away pools is you want to escape that we went to several times and also the main pool with the swim up bar and a hub of excitement and activities.

AWARD – Quick Get-A-Way Jamaica

This is one of my favorite all-inclusive Caribbean resorts for a quick getaway. Flying to Jamaica from the United Statesfor a three-day weekend lets me get on the beach within moments. Sandals Montego Bay is located very close to the MBJ airport, so you are not wasting your limited vacation time on transfers or sitting in the airport. This resort is just 5 minutes from the airport.

I spoke with many guests at Sandals Montego Bay when I was there and online that have been to this resort for their wedding or honeymoon and they all gave it rave reviews. The resort has one of the highest repeat guest rates out there. I was personally concerned with the resort being so close to the airport that it would be a negative, but the guests loved the proximity.

Considerations for Your Stay

• Proximity to the Airport: A major advantage is the short 5-minute drive from the airport, allowing you to start your vacation almost immediately. However, be aware that this also means you might hear airplanes taking off and landing. Most guests find this a minor inconvenience, with noise lasting only about 30 seconds.

• Beach Chair Reservations: Unless you’re an early riser, the best beach chair locations might be reserved by those with butler service. Plan accordingly to make the most of your beach time.

• Pool Size: The pools are smaller compared to other resorts in the area. If pool lounging is a priority, consider this when planning your activities.

A big advantage to Sandals Montego Bay is the Stay at one Play at three access to the other resorts in Montego Bay. This means you have 20 gourmet restaurants all within 10 minutes of you. If you want to head to another resort for the day, you just take the free shuttle.

Sandals Montego Bay is a lively resort with activities revolving around the amazing stretch of the white sand beach. You are always just steps away from the sea at this resort.

• This was Butches First resort he built, and the staff and location convenience to Montego Bay is unmatched. The resort recently underwent a full refurbishment and WOW, it looks amazing. You will find me at the lobby bar when you arrive.

• The people of Jamaica are the friendliest you will find in the Caribbean. “No Worries Mon” is the mantra and my favorite saying at all the resorts.

• You can stay at one and play and dine at two. Just hop on the free shuttle to the other resorts just minutes away and enjoy multiple venues.

• Just like all resorts, the landscaping is a Caribbean tropical paradise with so many photo spots and places to get away.

• Latitudes, an over-the-water bar, is my favorite hangout, and it will be your favorite spot too. This bar is a circle, hut-like building in the middle of the ocean with hammocks all the way around the edges over the water. Be warned if you get into one of the hammocks, it’s not as easy to get out.

Why Might Sandals Montego Bay Not Be Considered The Best

• One advantage and also challenge is how close it is to the airport. I literally could watch the flights take off from one of my rooms. So it can be noisy, and the first flights start around 6 AM. I talked to lots of guests, and not a single one cared about the airport noise. I also got used to it, but you need to be aware of this.

• The pools are smaller than most resorts if that is going to be your main vacation spot.

Why Might Sandals Negril Not Be Considered the Best

Any Sandals Resort that is a ways away from the airport means you get a free tour of the island but it also means leaving earlier to get back to the airport 3 hours before your flight time.  So if you have an early flight you might be on a super early van ride to the airport.  Just keep this in mind when booking your return flights home.

The famous 7 mile beach is a public beach and with 7 miles of resorts and locals too this means you will have people walking up to you to sell you souvenirs.  You just have to say no thanks.  If you do want to purchase something it can be difficult since you are at an all inclusive resort and I rarely have any cash on me.

This popular Sandals resort is a perfect fit for a newlywed couple or someone looking to try an all inclusive Caribbean resort on a budget.  Some of the most affordable Sandals resort rooms are at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort.  This is because the resort is a good hour and a half drive from the Montego Bay airport and also because the resort has a unique layout that some might find challenging.  Half of the resort in in teh mountains and half of the Sandals resort is on the beach.  There is a frequent shuttle that takes you down the mountain and across the street to the beach side resort, but it not walkable from one half to the other.  But I do really enjoy this resort and again if you are looking for a “cheap Sandals Resort” this is it.

The speakeasy is really something cool at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort.  I have been here several times and love the 1920’s style decor, drinks and the Big Mama entertainer is fantastic.

One of my favorite things about this resort is the speak easy.  You need to plan at least one night for the speak easy,  Another small fun thing to do here on the mountain side of the resort is look for mongoose.  As the sun starts to set you will see them as you quietly walk from your resort room to the main lobby area.  They are fast and you an’t get too close before they vanish.  The beachside pool is also one of the most fun pools at a Sandals resort if you like a pary vibe.  The swim up pool has great music and on my last trip fantastic bartenders that make it that much more enjoyable.

The benefit to this resort is you get two sandals resorts in one, literally.  So take advantage of both Sandals resorts as you can walk from one to the other.  This is the only Sandals Caribbean bowling ally and it’s pared with a craft brewery bar.  Outside the bowling ally area is an open air seating area with little outdoor livingrooms setup each with a large screen TV, perfect for a game, or relaxing after dinner.

This all-butler boutique hotel sits on a cliff face with stunning views and amazing photo spots. This resort is perfect for couples wanting a private escape. For nightlife, the HOP Sandals shuttle conveniently takes you next door to Sandals Ochi Beach Resort. We loved being able to enjoy the vibrant activities there and then retreat to the tranquility of Sandals Royal Plantation at night.

Another advantage to Sandals Royal Plantation is that it has full exchange privileges with Sandals Ochi Beach Resort which is next door.  Guests staying at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort do NOT have exchange privileges to Sandals Royal Plantation.  We waded over to Sandals Ochi next door several times and also took the free shuttle.  Sandals Ochi Beach Resort is the Sandals resort you probably have seen in TV commercials and brochures.  It has an amazing swim up bar, and large beach party area for daytime activities and nighttime events, and loads of restaurants. With Sandals Ochi next door you can hang out at the swim up bar during the day if you like more activities, and head back to your resort when you want to relax.  You have the best of both worlds.

Why Might Sandals Royal Plantation Not Be Considered the Best

• Sandals Royal Plantation is not handicapped friendly.  There are lots of rock steps to the beach areas.  We did meet a guest in a wheel chair that comes often and the staff carries him down to the beach area.  It’s up to you but I feel that many other Sandals resorts are more handicapped friendly.
• This resort is decorated in the old traditional Bahamian style of decor.  Dark woods, green marble countertops, gold fixtures.  This gives the resort a more dated feel vs many of the other Sandals resorts that have redone their rooms to a more modern, clean, contemporary Caribbean feel.

Sandals Royal Plantation Insider Tip:

Get to know your butlers.  Having butlers gets a little getting use to, so be sure to bring your room phone with you to the beach, to Sandals Ochi, etc.  If you left your book in your book and you are on the beach at Royal Plantation just give them a call.  If you would like your cooler filled with beer by your beach chairs, or dinner reservations, etc. your butler can take care of everything for you.

We would spend time at Sandals Ochi at the swim up bar and take “The Hop” free shuttle to the mountain side part of the Ochi resort for some amazing Jerk Shack pork and Chicken for lunch.  Then later in the day we would head back to Sandals Royal Plantation for a quite relaxing evening.  If you still want night life, just head to Sandals Ochi for the Beach Party.
